The two-time LCS Champion South Korean botlaner is leaving Cloud9.
Following a difficult fourth-place finish in the LCS, AD Carry Kim "Berserker" Min-cheol is set to leave Cloud9 ahead of the 2025 competitive season. Although the botlaner was contracted for one more year, sources tell Sheep Esports that the 21-year-old South Korean player has requested to leave his team after spending three full years with them. At this time, Berserker's new destination remains unknown.
A Disappointing Year
What was on paper one of the most exciting rosters of the off-season, the Cloud9 super-team fell flat throughout the year. Through the acquisitions of midlaner Joseph Joon "Jojopyun" Pyun and support Philippe "Vulcan" Laflamme, the North American squad was expected to conquer the region and assert itself as one of the strongest teams the LCS had seen in recent years.
Unfortunately, as super-teams often tend to do, Berserker and his team faltered and struggled to even push for a Worlds 2024 qualification. Aiming for the sun and an LCS Championship title, Cloud9 flew too close to the sun and burned itself, finishing in third place in spring and fourth place in summer, narrowly missing out on participation in the annual international circuit.
As of now, neither Berserker's nor Cloud9's plans are known to Sheep Esports, and it is uncertain whether the AD Carry will want to remain in North America or return to his home region of South Korea. For now, Cloud9 are exploring its options in multiple roles but has not yet secured a potential replacement for the South Korean botlaner. Over the past three years, Berserker and his team won two championship titles—one in 2022 and one in 2023.
