Wiz returns to CBLOL after a year and a half's absence
Jungler Na “Wiz” Yoo-joon reached a verbal agreement on Wednesday to join FURIA Esports in CBLOL, according Sheep Esports sources. The 26-year-old Korean veteran is now a regular on the South American continent: after a brief stint in LCK and then in TCL, Wiz joined the Brazilian elite for the 2020 summer split, winning the title with KaBuM! e-Sports. Deprived of MSI due to the Covid-19 pandemic (the competition was cancelled that year), he then became Marcos “Cariok” Oliveira's replacement at paiN Gaming for the winter split, before bouncing back to Argentina the following year.
In 2022, Wiz returned to the team that brought him the only trophy of his career, KaBuM, albeit with less success this time: 3rd in Split 1 then 5th in Split 2. After this minor setback and for the past year and a half, the Korean has in fact been without a team, so his return to competition seems a risky gamble. But Furia needs fresh blood: the team finished 9th in the first split of 2024, with four wins and 14 losses.
Another Korean on the toplane ?
For this reason, the team is also considering another change, on the toplane. According to Sheep Esports sources, Furia is exploring its options among Korean toplane players as a matter of priority. Should no suitable profile emerge, the team could also recruit a Brazilian toplaner.
