According to sources close to Sheep Esports, Erik "Treatz" Wessén has reached a verbal agreement with Dignitas to be a coach for the LCS team. It appears that the renowned Swedish support will serve as assistant coach, while Joshua Alan "Mabrey" Mabrey will be promoted to the role of Head Coach.

This will mark Treatz's debut as a coach. The last time he competed on the rift himself was in the LCS, the same region where he will now be a coach for the first time. Treatz is a European player who has been part of different teams, including Giants, Team ROCCAT, and Movistar Riders. After leaving Europe, he competed in North America with TSM before returning to the LEC with SK Gaming, where he spent two years with the organization and even role swapped to jungle during the Summer Split of 2021.

The role of Head Coach will be taken on by Mabrey, who had previous stints with various LCS teams such as TSM, Echo Fox and Immortals. He was also part of Dignitas earlier in his career between 2021 and 2022. This move will mark his return to the Head Coach position after four months as a positional coach.

A team in need for change

Following recent underperformances by Dignitas in the LCS Spring Split, resulting in a first-round elimination in the playoffs, the North American organization is aiming to make decisive changes to reverse their fortunes. After narrowly missing out on the upper bracket playoffs with a fifth-place finish in the LCS Group Stages, the team was defeated by Team Liquid in a dominant 3-0 fashion, concluding their Spring Split prematurely.

As reported earlier by Sheep Esports, the organization has also reached an agreement with Eric "Licorice" Ritchie to be their new toplaner for the upcoming season, following their parting ways with previous coach Ilias “Enatron” Theodorou.
