Thien arrived in Spain on June 11 and is currently ranked Master on the EUW server
Romeo "Thien" Tran stands on the verge of a major transition in his professional career. According to sources close to Sheep Esports, the Australian toplaner has reached a verbal agreement with Ramboot Club to join the SuperLiga. Having spent virtually all of his career competing in his native region, Thien will now play in Spain — and more broadly, Europe — for the first time. This is not, however, his first foray outside his home turf: in 2021, he spent a season with CLG Academy in North America.
Over the past three years, Thien has competed in the LCO, the Oceanic league. He claimed his first title during Split 1 of the 2023 season with Chiefs Esports Club — although he did so as a substitute, without playing a single match. It was in 2024, however, that Thien truly began to distinguish himself. He secured both seasonal titles with Ground Zero Gaming. During Split 2, the team dropped only a single game, in the grand final against Team Bliss. These results earned Thien qualification for the PCS, though it did not yield any significant achievements.
Recommended by KOI Assistant Coach Fénix
Thien had been inactive since the start of the current season. On June 11, he arrived in Madrid and began climbing the solo queue ladder. As of now, he is ranked Master with 760 LP on the EUW server. He received a public endorsement on X from fellow Australian Ronan "jinjo" Swingler, currently the Assistant Coach of KOI Fénix. “ERL teams looking at a new toplaner this offseason should consider contacting him for a tryout,” wrote the Irish-Australian coach. The message appears to have reached Ramboot, who have now decided to extend Thien’s adventure on Iberian soil.
He will not be the only new face at RBT. As previously reported by Sheep Esports, the organization has also reached a verbal agreement with support player Kim "Goliath" Hyo-min, who is set to replace Rúben "rhuckz" Barbosa following the latter’s retirement. Continuity, it seems, is not a priority for the club. RBT had already overhauled its entire roster between Winter and Spring after finishing in a disappointing 5th–6th place. The results did not improve in the following split, with the team falling to 7th–8th in the standings.
