Kiin, Canyon, Chovy, Ruler and Duro will play together with Gen.G
After weeks of swirling rumors, Gen.G have finally announced their official roster. Kim "Kiin" Gi-in, Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu and Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon have re-signed with the team, while Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk and Joo “Duro” Min-kyu join to form the new botlane. This marks the return of Ruler to Gen.G after two years in the LCK, as well as the arrival of Duro, who made his LCK debut last summer with FearX (FOX).
After weeks of speculation and rumors, the Korean super team that dominated much of the 2024 LCK season has officially announced a roster shakeup. Despite winning the LCK Summer Split and the MSI in almost flawless fashion, Gen.G's trajectory faltered during the Summer playoffs, where they were surprisingly defeated by Hanwha Life Esports in the grand final. This loss ended their streak of four consecutive LCK titles. Although their performance at Worlds was solid, it fell short of expectations. They reached the semifinals but lost to T1—a team they had consistently outclassed throughout the year—and narrowly escaped a quarterfinal scare against FlyQuest, who pushed them to their limits.
Gen.G go all-in in 2025
To exorcise the demons of these late-season struggles, Gen.G have completely changed their botlane. They have brought back a familiar face in Ruler, who returns to the organization he left two years ago before competing in the LPL. While Ruler's addition is seen as a clear upgrade, he will need to prove himself worthy of reclaiming the ADC position from Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan, who established himself as one of the league’s best marksmen over the past two years.
Joining Ruler in the botlane is a promising prospect, Duro, who made his LCK debut last summer with FOX. Despite his limited experience, Duro now finds himself in a team filled with seasoned veterans aiming for nothing but the Grand Slam in 2025. The young support will need to meet the high expectations of his teammates while contributing to the team’s ultimate goal: reclaiming glory. Duro’s previous split saw him help FOX to a surprising playoff appearance, and he will be eager to secure the first major title of his career.
Meanwhile, Gen.G has retained their topside, with Kiin, Canyon, and Chovy anchoring the roster once again. Notably, both Chovy and Ruler have signed three-year contracts, cementing their roles as the cornerstones of a team focused solely on victory. This roster sends a clear message: Gen.G is fully committed to reclaiming their place at the pinnacle of the LCK, and once more aims for a Worlds title.
