With KC’s loss, G2 Esports remains the only undefeated team in the league
The second day of the second week of the LEC saw some power dynamics become clearer. BDS claimed a 2-0 win over SK Gaming, while Fnatic took down the reigning champions in a lively 2-1 match. That means no perfect split for Karmine Corp, while Fnatic picks up a confidence-boosting victory.
SK and KC cooled down
The first series of the day was pretty one-sided. After their solid 2-0 win over Fnatic last week, SK Gaming got a bit of a reality check. BDS looked calm and in control, especially when it came to securing objectives. Steven "RKR" Chen was the only standout for SK across both games, particularly in Game 1, where he led a midgame comeback attempt. But overall, the Swiss squad was hardly ever in trouble. The cherry on top? Yoon "Ice" Sang-hoon's pentakill on Jhin in Game 1. A textbook series from BDS, who now notch their second win of the Spring Split — a reassuring result in the race for the Playoffs, where only six teams qualify.
Fnatic’s 2-1 win over Karmine Corp was a story of adaptation and resilience. The series began with Fnatic on the back foot, struggling mechanically and consistently losing out on key areas of the map. Karmine Corp capitalized with cleaner macro and stronger early game coordination, punishing Fnatic’s missteps and asserting control. But Fnatic adjusted, despite ongoing issues around objective setups, they found their footing in the mid-series, tightening their teamplay and leaning on key individual performances to swing momentum back in their favor. KC’s unconventional drafts failed to gain traction, while Fnatic’s more stable approach allowed them to take over gradually.
By Game 3, Fnatic had turned the tables entirely, dominating the early game and never letting go. Iván "Razork" Martín relentlessly pressured the enemy botlane with Pantheon, paving the way for a dominant win for his team. It was a confident finish that handed Karmine Corp their first loss of the split and gave Fnatic a much-needed morale boost as they look to build consistency as we advance.
The second week of the LEC wraps up this Monday with Rogue looking to secure its second win of the split against a struggling GIANTX, followed by the Spanish derby between Team Heretics and Movistar KOI.
