Milan won Champions 2021 with Acend, as an analyst
Milan “Milan” Meij is back in the spotlight. After two seasons with Giants/GiantX, the assistant coach has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to join the VCT EMEA league's top team, Fnatic, according to Sheep Esports sources. Winner of Champions as an analyst with Acend in 2021, the Dutchman did not have the opportunity to win any more titles with the Spanish team.
A mid-table European team in 2023, Giants still managed to qualify for Champions by finishing in the top 2 of the Last Chance Qualifier, even winning the LCQ. This season, however, GiantX experienced real difficulties: the club failed to qualify for the playoffs at either of the season's two Stages, and therefore played no international competition.
Milan replaces mini
At Fnatic, Milan will take over the assistant coach position vacated by an icon of the VALORANT Black and Orange coaching staff: Jacob “mini” Harris. Formerly the team's Head Coach, mini had indicated that he wanted to take a step back at the end of the 2023 season to find a better balance in his life. However, he returned to the team three months later, this time as assistant coach.
While Fnatic's 2024 may have been less dominant than the previous season, the British club still won both VCT EMEA Stages. After the club's disappointing Champions (5th) to close the season, mini announced on September 6 that he would be taking a break from coaching.
