Guilhoto won the only title of his career in Summer Split 2024 with Los Heretics.
André “Guilhoto” Pereira Guilhoto is making his return to Tier 1 of League of Legends esports. Head Coach of Los Heretics in the LVP since last May, the Portuguese has reached a verbal agreement with GIANTX for the next LEC season, according to Sheep Esports sources. Guilhoto reportedly turned down offers from Brazil and other leagues to return to GiantX and lead the Spanish team's new LEC project.
Guilhoto has in fact already coached the team twice earlier in his career: once in 2017, and again, more recently, in 2023 — both from back when the team was still called Giants. In the meantime, the Head Coach has climbed the highest regional level in Europe, with Schalke 04 then Origen, then in North America with Immortals then Team Liquid. However, it was in the Spanish league that Guilhoto won the only title of his career — a Summer Split 2024 championship with Los Heretics.
A new start
At GIANTX, Guilhoto will replace Christophe “Kaas” van Oudheusden. The team had a complicated year in the LEC, finishing 8th in the Winter and Spring, then 6th in the Summer Split. Having qualified for the Season Finals, GX didn't last long and went out in the first round, finishing 6th overall to end their season. However, the roster — built around veteran ADC Patrik and rookie prodigy Jackies — still showed a lot of promise.
Guilhoto will be in charge of the new GiantX team after this year's team failed to meet the high expectations of the Spanish club. GIANTX appears to be using the off-season to fully restructure the team in pursuit of its high competitive aspirations. Sheep Esports will keep you informed.
