Gen.G pull off a comeback and complete the reverse sweep to take the series
Gen.G are heading to MSI 2025 after a grueling best-of-five against Hanwha Life Esports, which they clinched in five games. The reigning LCK champions pulled off an impressive reverse sweep to close out their split without dropping a single series — 19 wins in 19. Korea’s finest have dominated the Spring Split from start to finish and now set their sights on Vancouver as true favorites for the international stage.
Game 1 set the stage for a thrilling series — a 49-minute slugfest where HLE dominated for over 30 minutes before Gen.G turned things around, building a lead of more than 8,000 gold. But despite the comeback, an Elder Drake secured by HLE swung the game back in their favor, giving them the win in a dramatic finish. Game 2 saw HLE in full control from start to end, with their Kalista–Renata Glasc botlane making a massive impact. Yoo "Delight" Hwan-joong was especially sharp on Renata, landing key ultimates in every teamfight. With a 2–0 lead, HLE were one win away from MSI and from handing Gen.G their first series loss of the split.
The best team in the world
But Gen.G responded well. Game 3 showcased the synergy between Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu and Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon, who shut down Kim "Zeka" Geon-woo's Sylas early and dictated the pace. Game 4 was Canyon’s highlight reel — locking in Lee Sin, he landed a crucial pick on Park "Viper" Do-hyeon in a make-or-break fight. As Silver Scrapes rang out in Busan, the crowd roared for Game 5, and momentum had clearly shifted in Gen.G’s favor.
In the final game, Gen.G drafted Zoe mid — a disruptive pick that caused chaos in HLE’s backline and gave Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk the space he needed to pop off on Lucian. It was a textbook snowball: Gen.G seized control early and never let go, closing out the series and booking their ticket to MSI 2025. With a perfect 19–0 series record across the split, Korea’s top seed heads to Vancouver as the undeniable favorite for the international crown.
3 Teams, 1 Spot
Only two best-of-fives remain in the LCK Road to MSI. The first will take place Saturday, June 14, starting at 8 AM CET between T1 and KT Rolster. The winner will face HLE the next day, Sunday, June 15, for another shot at qualifying for MSI 2025. The tournament kicks off on June 27 with the Play-In stage. Reminder: the two LCK representatives will advance directly to the Main Stage, thanks to HLE’s victory at First Strike a few months ago.
