RNG had to double roleswap to compensate for their jungler's ban
On July 17, LPL team Royal Never Give Up (RNG) listed a very unexpected roster ahead of their match against Ultra Prime, planned for today. Rookie jungler Zhu "Geju" Wen-Xiang was indeed missing from the starting 5, hi Geju's absence was due to a two-games ban issued by the league. The reason invoked for the ban was "innapropriate words and acts during LPL live broadcast". LPL's announcement says that Geju has had flamed chinese casters for not giving him the MVP.
It was shortly announced after that Geju was being replaced by his support : Liao "Iwandy" Ding-Yang who would roleswap for the occasion. Support role's vacancy would be filled by midlaner Lin "Tangyuan" Yu-Hong. RNG thus needed to bring in Liu "Xzz" Zhu, their substitute, to have a ready starting 5.
And Ultra Prime did the funniest thing ever
With one player totally inexperienced in LPL and two roleswaps, Ultra Prime were expected to make quick case of RNG's scuffed roster, especially since RNG were still winless in the rumble stage. The first game was a no-show as UP won with ease. However, Royal Club lived up to their name and did not give up, resulting in a 2-1 victory over Ultra Prime.
What helped them coming back was another roleswap during the bo3, Xzz, who was struggling too much against UP's Zhang "Yuekai" Yue-Kai was sent in the jungle, Tangyuan and Iwandy were thus able to recover their main role, and after a 50 minutes game 2 and Xzz' respectable Zac performance, RNG grabbed their first win of the regular season.
