"We can actually be good; we just need more consistency."
Now eliminated from MSI 2024, Fnatic's mid-laner, Humanoid, discusses his loss against Team Liquid. Disappointment and regrets fill the Czech player's mind as he must now look ahead and focus on bouncing back in the Summer Season. Humanoid delves into the reasons for his loss and shares banter with APA in a conference interview.
| What was the biggest hurdle you faced when playing against Team Liquid and how do you look back at the series in general? Are there things you feel you could have done better to change the outcome of today?
Humanoid: "We mainly battled against ourselves today. We were very stressed and, we played way worse than we usually do. We'll need to focus on that in the future because, in other games, we felt more serene playing as underdogs. Being expected to win put a lot of pressure on us today, which led us to play very badly. We need to work on controlling our emotions and managing this stress better."
| How would you rate Fnatic's performance at MSI 2024?
Humanoid: "I was really happy with our performances until today. I would say that we were close to an 8/10 or 9/10 throughout MSI 2024, but today, we were a 1/10."
| Was there a lot of trash talk with APA today?
Humanoid: "Well, we definitely talked a lot in-game. It was mainly between him and myself. I don't remember exactly what we said to each other, but we were both chatting a lot for sure."
| Did you feel annoyed by the chatting?
Humanoid: "I didn't really feel annoyed since I enjoy chatting as well. Usually, I don't do it in competitive and mostly do it only in solo queue though. I enjoyed being able to do it while playing competitively but, it definitely sucks that we ended up losing after that much trash-talking."
| Would you say that the taunts in All Chat affected your team mentally throughout this BO5?
Humanoid: "Personally, I didn't get impacted by it at all. I just see it as us having fun really and, I think it was the same for him. I can obviously only talk about my own point of view but, I was fine with it."
| Did you feel surprised by how Team Liquid played today?
Humanoid: "I don't believe they did anything surprising really. They just played very standard strategies and didn't pull out any odd picks."
| During Game 4, Fnatic had secured an advantage but, things fell apart in team fights. What do you think was the cause of this?
Humanoid: "We were simply not decisive enough. We were really scared to engage on them even when we were grouped up. It often resulted in them pushing us out of advantageous positions, even when fighting 3v4. We would be running away even when we shouldn't."
| What are the positive elements and key takeaways from MSI 2024 for Fnatic?
Humanoid: "The key takeaway is that we can actually be good. We need to focus on reaching our peak level more consistently because we can have really good days. Unfortunately, as we saw today, we can also have terrible ones. It really feels like our performances are random and not consistent at all. We need to work on it."
